Zohran Mamdani is being heckled right now at a press conference in Brooklyn, NY, by someone whose words I can't hear, but watch how he's dealing with it. Mamdani has the unique skill of knowing how to handle and walk into every room and engage with people, no matter how toxic they are or how their feelings are against him. And many times, make them feel heard. Elected officials, nonprofit and religious leaders, advocates, and activists on both sides of the political spectrum who met with him told me that. Don't take my word for it, President Trump is pretty public about it. That's why he's currently the mayor of New York City. If you don't like his politics or you're like me, who opposed his candidacy and is still troubled by some of his actions and statements, then don't take this post the wrong way; read into it how you should be better to communicate your message. Yes, putting ego aside for any public figure is not easy.

It's so funny to look at these figures. Huang would have to pay a one-time $7 billion sum on $155 billion fortune. "Who cares" is absolutely the appropriate reaction. It means nothing to him. David Sacks types look like the biggest babies in the world.

You could chose your leftism to be identified with A) Build tons of cool fast trains and airports and affordable homes or B) Use a lot of weird words no one understands and ABOLISH COPS and 'eating bananas is actually colonialism.' One of the above works

Claudia Sheinbaum says Mexico's "neoliberal period" is over, announcing a slew of new public works. Continuing AMLO's Fourth Transformation, Mexico is building passenger rail, highways, airports, 200K+ affordable homes, and more.

Saikat Chakrabarti — AOC's fmr chief — isn't like other progressives: He's extremely wealthy. He's worth at least $167 million per his financial dsiclosure. He may be wealthier than Nancy Pelosi, who he's running to unseat in SF. I asked him about that. Here's what he told me:

Fondly remembering my Grandpa Joseph Perez, who we lost 28 years ago today. I was only 10 when my Papi Joe passed and yet I still often reflect on his remarkable life: Born in Algiers, French Algeria in 1915 to poor French Pied Noirs parents of Spanish origins, my grandpa was an inspiration to all who knew him. Despite his Spanish surname, he was as French as they come smoking Gauloises cigarettes and drinking Pastis. He was the first person in his entire family to receive a post-secondary education and become a white collar worker, rising in the French public service to the rank of Police Commissioner - a role he held in both Algiers and Paris. As a young professional, he learned Arabic because it was the right thing to do living and working in a majority-Arab country. Most of all, I remember Joseph Perez for his resilience and sunny outlook. In 1962, as a result of France’s defeat in the bloody Algerian War, my grandpa abruptly lost his homeland and every single belonging he owned save for a suit case; yet in the face of incredible adversity, he didn’t pout, look back or surrender to animosity. Instead, rebuilt his life in mainland France - always loyal to the French Republic even when it wasn’t loyal to him. More recently, I learned that my Grandpa was quite the secularist and a political progressive for his time. His very modest roots instilled in him a steadfast belief that government had a role to play in lifting everyone up, regardless of background. He disdained France’s far-right and believed in equity for all. Papi Joe (and the example he set for all who knew him) will be in my thoughts today. #cdnpoli #onpoli #topoli

Not really a milestone, but a staggering statistic: @Bruce_Power, the most productive thermal power plant on earth, has now produced, as of the end of 2023, 1,564.6TWh of electricity. It was the first plant to hit 1PWh, ahead of Gravelines in France, and once uprated to over 7,000MW, will be even more productive, not to mention the potential addition of up to 4,800MW of capacity at Bruce C, pushing it over 11,000MW nameplate, making it the largest thermal plant ever constructed.

@danielbreezcpa @taylorscollon Still life changing! You’re seriously out of touch if you think a million dollars isn’t life changing for the average Canadian.

@Nickkadysh Better think through the succession planning to ensure the family can either pay the tax upon transfer or sell the home and enjoy the proceeds. These are rich people problems.

@bchang You get taxed before you sell anything. The transfer to the younger generation triggers the capital gain.
