I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to have empathy for Michael B Jordan, Delroy Lindo, Hannah Beachler, and John Davidson. Each of them deserves it.

One AI thing I AM worried about and am genuinely curious how those who are much more excited about AI than I am feel: In the MFA filmmaking class I teach at ArtCenter, decks used to be a total mixed bag. A few great, many very bad. That said, you could watch students get better at writing loglines and summaries and character descriptions as the semester went on. Now it’s obvious 98% are written by ChatGPT. Same voice. Same structure. They're all, as the kids say, "mid". ChatGPT is great for research and organization. But kids relying on it this early? I worry it’s going to make everyone dumber and dumber and dumber. How do you learn to write prose and find your voice and write original dialogue when all you do it ask a computer to do it for you? And this goes for all industries.

My challenge to all the AI mongers on this site: make a scene as awesome as this. And I don’t mean just imitate it but with RDJ and Brad Pitt in the car, make something original without depending on star power, but still as awesome as this.

You have no idea how much I resent AI for completely ruining a perfectly good sentence structure: "It's not just x – it's y." You cannot write that anymore. Everyone will assume it's AI or get derailed wondering if it's AI. We've been robbed of an entire sentence form.

This is a horror story. A Florida woman who lives paycheck to paycheck was fined over $100,000 for...parking on her own grass. A judge ruled that wasn't "excessive." The Florida Supreme Court won't hear her case. She's not even the first. A thread.

Most people with a weak Gluteus Medius don’t strengthen it properly. Banded lateral walks and leg raises aren’t enough. This important muscle has many functions, one of which gets particularly overlooked. Here’s what you need to know 👇

Broadly speaking, the reason I love movies so much is, I wish to get lost, to forget, to escape. I remember having an argument with a former employer about the fundamental importance of this, and realizing we were in this business for two completely different reasons.

Barbara Broccoli, who just relinquished control of the James Bond franchise to Amazon MGM after 11 films, warns that if the career producer doesn't have a path to survival, the biggest casualty will be the consumer: “Career producers are the guardians of narrative integrity and emotional truth. When the producer’s hand is diminished, quality suffers, and the audience feels this loss.” variety.com/2025/film/feat…

I will take a break from the usual screenwriting tweet to share that I am 24 years sober today. My drinking pretty much killed the first version of my screenwriting career. After 8 or so years, I had burned enough bridges that it was time to move on. I got sober, became a little closer to who I wanted to be, and a few years later started working again. But honestly, the new career was not the primary benefit of getting sober. The primary benefit was that every relationship in my life improved. I was a better son, brother, uncle, and friend. I was also a much better teacher, something I fell in love with around that time. I know not every drunk gets here, and I am reminded often, "There, but for the grace of God go I." So I am going to focus on that gratitude today. No matter what. Because it's so easy to miss just how much of a miracle every moment really is. Special thanks to all those trudging the road of happy destiny with me. And I hope anyone who needs to chooses to join us.

You're not creating anything with AI, you're exploring an infinite library of other people's works and laying claim to anything you find there because you feel like you put effort into the search.

@LukeBarnett The worst is all these AI charlatans patting each other on the back, saying how they love each other’s work. Abuse of the goddamn verb.

The best part about this stupid montage of a "short film" is that he clearly wrote the tweet in ChatGPT, too. Nothing about this is creative or original. These "AI artists" can't even communicate without the help of their robot. It's making us dumber by the minute, all the while taking jobs and decimating our environment. I get it, it's here to stay, it will have benefits as a tool, but so far I think it's just making our world lamer and lamer.

It is now possible to make narrative AI movies—and I have done it. I am excited to announce the release of Valley of Shadow an entirely AI-generated 6-minute short film depicting the horrors of World War I. Written and directed/crafted by myself, Valley of Shadow is the first narrative AI production to attempt a period-accurate film, integrating Hollywood-level pre. & post-production with state-of-art AI filmmaking tools. The project was produced through an entirely new filmmaking method involving 30+ distinct AI tools which I have developed at my rising venture SUBVERUM (subverum.com)—where I am pioneering a new frontier of filmmaking with methods which utilize SOTA technologies while maximizing creative control. The goal: to create beautiful, intentional films which stand out. The project was created for @Manalive_Media (manalivemediagroup.com) as a proof-of-concept for their upcoming inaugural project—the live-cinema production Death, War, Poets, a “high-wire” act to be performed live in France 2026, and streamed on-demand across the world. Thank you to Douglas Dye, Founder and CEO of @Manalive_Media, for giving me the opportunity to craft this project and for his guidance in shaping the writing and vision, and, most importantly, for his generous and wise mentorship. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the creation of Valley of Shadow. In particular, I would like to thank my brother, @Edmund_Goforth, for writing the poem Umbra Mortis and performing its narration throughout the film. Special thanks to John Haggard ( for his work on sound design—generating and editing several of the foley elements. Finally, thank you to my friends, family, and members of my school community for their support throughout the project.

Y’all are gonna have to mute me for posting about my film too much. This film is the result of a 20-year grind where any success in filmmaking often felt out of reach. I’d be lying if I said I never thought of quitting— but I almost did right before deciding to make Roses on the Vine. I just wanted to put one on the board. Today, I finally did. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me through this journey. I hope you enjoy the film. 🌹
