Congratulations to Foten Tesfaye on her record-breaking debut at the Barcelona Marathon!
Her victories—from Atlanta’s 2023 Peachtree Road Race to Barcelona—continue to inspire athletes from Ethiopia to the United States. We also celebrate the outstanding performances of all Ethiopian runners who made their mark in Barcelona. #US_Ethiopia #SportsDiplomacy

I express my profound sorrow over the tragedy that has affected our fellow citizens following the landslide disaster in the Gamo Zone of Southern Ethiopia. I pray that God grants eternal peace to the souls of those who lost their lives and comfort to their families and loved ones.
At this difficult time, we must stand together in solidarity and make every possible effort to swiftly support those in need.

As Reverend Jesse Jackson is laid to rest, we not only mourn his passing but also honor the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. A towering figure of the civil rights movement, Reverend Jackson dedicated his life to advancing justice, equality, and the dignity of Black nations and peoples across the world.
Ethiopia will always remember with deep appreciation his principled friendship and solidarity, particularly during times of need, when he stood firmly in support of the country’s pursuit of justice, fairness, and international understanding.
I extend my deepest condolences to Reverend Jackson’s family, loved ones, and all those touched by his remarkable life and service. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

It is my great honour and pleasure to welcome Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Ethiopia as we co-host the Second Italy–Africa Summit.
This occasion represents more than a diplomatic gathering; it symbolizes the deepening partnership between Italy and African nations; a partnership grounded in mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a common vision for sustainable growth. Prime Minister Meloni’s visit underscores our collective commitment to strengthening cooperation across trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and innovation.

What an incredible day in Addis Ababa! Many of us from the embassy community had a fantastic time joining thousands of runners and walkers (and a lot of dancers!) at the 2025 Great Ethiopian Run on November 23, 2025. It was wonderful to celebrate the spirit of #Ethiopia alongside so many enthusiastic participants. The energy on the streets was inspiring. The #GreatEthiopianRun, founded by Haile Gebrselassie, is Africa’s largest road race. Congratulations to everyone who took part and made this day so memorable. #US_Ethiopia

Africa has spoken with one voice at the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 30) in Belém, Brazil and the world has listened. Ethiopia extends its heartfelt gratitude to the African Group of Negotiators for their unanimous endorsement of Ethiopia’s bid to host COP 32 in Addis Ababa in 2027. We are grateful for the opportunity that the Conference of the Parties is giving us to spearhead the collective effort to tackle one of the most daunting challenges faced by humanity. We are honored to be entrusted by the global community with such an important responsibility. This recognition reflects confidence in Ethiopia’s leadership in climate action and its capacity to host major global events.
Ethiopia remains fully committed to delivering a robust and meaningful outcome and inclusive COP 32 that advances collective action against climate change. Building on the momentum of the Second Africa Climate Summit, Ethiopia will continue to champion Africa as a continent of solutions and a committed partner in the global effort for a sustainable future.
