When I was a wee laddie in Greenock, guising was called "galoshans." Wondered where that came from, and found it originated from Galatia in modern-day Turkey. How did it end up in Greenock, and is Greenock the last (or only) place where this word's used? scotslanguage.com/articles/view/…
