the replies on this are very telling, too few people watch animated movies outside of american cinema. the french 2d animated film 'little amélie and the character of rain', released last year, it's gorgeous and more people should watch it!!! :)

@natsreturnn lenses is lowkey a different conversation but shot types are a pretty simple thing to learn and it’s actually p interesting! i think cinephiles should get into film art even if a little. when you know about shot types and semiotics it’s more interesting to pick apart a film

@mercutihoe wait i just gave u misinfo they aren’t doing 2d i misremembered it they’re just doing hand painted looking cgi. yea pixar is exclusively 3d so honestly i dont see them going with that 2d animation test at all. definitely not sumn that looks so much like ghibli

@mercutihoe pixar does 3d animation almost exclusively but i heard they greenlit a 2d project not long ago which is exciting! unfortunately for disney 2d doesn’t bring in enough revenue for them and general audiences prefer 3d animated films i assume due to their proximity to live action
