the secret to creamy asparagus soup is not cream, it's a chinoise—a fine meshed strainer. "pushing" the blended soup through a chinoise traps the remaining fibers in the mesh. even if you only trap 1/4 cup of fiber, you will dramatically alter the mouth feel of the soup.
