For me, 2023 was the most uneventful year in the last 5 years. My 2023 in review 1. Made impact on an enterprise wide solution. 2. Travelled to 4 countries 3. Saw my first NBA finals game (Game 4) 4. 50 Cent’s Final lap tour 5. Saw my favorite art piece 6. Improved communication skills (From 20-60) 7. Lost a treasure, gained a treasure 8. Formed a stronger bond with son. 9. Improved financial intelligence.

If you are waiting for a population to magically begin to behave well, then you are simply wasting your time. It has never happened anywhere in the world. Law, order, and policing exists for a reason. Without societal guardrails engineered by top leadership, nothing will change.

I have the capacity to take a lot of risks now and I’ll take them. No risk, no reward. That’s how you build it generationally.

Aliko Dangote built his empire by following one pattern over and over. Find something Nigeria imports massively. Build local capacity. Capture the domestic market. Cement, sugar, salt, flour, and now oil refining at 700,000 barrels per day. When I evaluate a stock now, I ask the same question. Is this company solving a real problem at massive scale? Companies producing things people need every day tend to be the most durable investments. What Nigerian company do you think is solving the biggest problem right now?
