Pictured are new seeds on the #ElmTree. Elms are 1 of our first trees to flower. Because they are pollinated by wind, the flowers are small & not showy. The seeds have a paper-like wing around them to help them drift to sprout in new locations & hopefully grow into a new tree!

'Japanese have been producing wood for 700 years, without cutting down trees' : In 14th Century CE, 'Daisugi' technique was born in Japan. Daisugi provide that these trees will be planted for future generations and not be cut down but pruned as if they were giant bonsai trees. By applying this technique to cedars, wood that can be obtained is uniform, straight and without knots, perfect for construction. A pruning as a rule of art that allows tree to grow and germinate while using its wood, without ever cutting it down. #archaeohistories

This ancient yew suffered severe storm damage several years ago & is undergoing careful remedial works to ensure it survives. The crown has been delicately pruned to reduce the pressure on the weak trunk & props may be added to reduce the risk of further failures. ati.woodlandtrust.org.uk/tree-search/tr…

Los Árboles Mágicos ®️, (by Oscar Gaitan)
#BowthorpeOak 🌳🍃

Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) trees are the ecological workhorse of the British countryside, providing flowers and nectar in spring, and berries for birds and small mammals throughout the winter, often doing this against all the odds in the toughest of conditions.

Measurements are in for today: I shrunk 0.001 mm and transported 860.29 l of water! That is 139 l or 19% more than yesterday. No more growth today, my diameter is starting to shrink.
