Sadly, there are really going to be 4 categories of DI Wrestling teams moving forward- after a handful are cut First- a definition Hostage Drop- when the admin says they aren't cutting the program, but that the scholarships and budget need to come completely, or primarily from donors. We have seen this already and have seen a lot of Hostage Startups as well 1- The true Bluebloods who are in big conferences AND have strong fundraising. They will see less $$ from athletic departments which they will make up from donor dollars 2- Schools that don't give athletic scholarships will operate as usual with some cuts to their school supplied budgets, especially if they have mediocre football or hoops programs 3- Schools in conferences that "opt in" that are not good at football and basketball. These will be the hardest hit programs as schollies and budgets will be gutted. Think all schools not in power conferences, or schools in the back half of the big time conferences. These will be the hardest hit. You will see a lot of "Hostage Drops" 4- Everyone else. These schools will lose funding, but honestly, they are used to operating on shoe string budgets. IF their admin doesn't use this as an excuse to Hostage Drop or eliminate all together, they will be the least affected. Tough times ahead

House v. NCAA is a big deal. College wrestling programs (and all Olympic sports) should be paying attention. This is not a "we'll figure it out" situation, this is a red alert. Our world is about to get rocked and not in a good way. My unfiltered thoughts:
