Kwara has not produced a Christian governor since C.O Adebayo in 1983 (just 3 months). Christian population in Kwara should be up to 30%. Kwara South is almost 50:50. Some LGs like Ekiti and Isin have Christian majority. Some like Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Oyun have up to 40% Christians too at least while Offa has at least 25%.
The dynamics of 1983 where strongman Olusola Saraki supported UPN candidate Adebayo was different. There is no such strongman in Kwara again.
If APC, the strongest party in the state now, fields a Christian, they could play into the hands of opposition party that will field a Muslim from Ilorin.
The 1983 case needed a strongman godfather to make happen.
And realistically, in 2027, all leading aspirants are even Muslims.
I wonder why we don't see leading Christian candidates in Kwara guber.

I think it will be unfair if Kwara Central produces the next governor of Kwara. Since 1999 - Mohammed Lawal, 4 years, Kwara Central - Bukola Saraki, 8 years, Kwara Central - Abdulfatah Ahmed, 8 years, Kwara South - Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, 8 years, Kwara Central. Kwara North should produce next governor.
