@sakrafka hatching is adored but it depends! ex. here because you're using lines to indicate feathers, the hatching looks like it's meant to imply other textures as well. the spiky shading works great for smaller illustrations like the example one here!

@EvilBeanDD grossman helped create leather garments as a child in the 40s and 50s, she is on the record for that informing a lot of her work. she wasn't even aware of leather fetish culture until she developed her style. she's talked about it lots, I was also surprised it wasnt kink at first

grossman was born in 1940, I don't think it's surprising at all that she didn't learn about leather fetish culture until later. she is aware of it and knows that same culture views her work as such fetish
