@c4talyst The same code behind the Cloud formation could have been used in K8s to achieve the same thing in the self-hosted world.
Maybe you should think about how and why K8s is very easy to overcomplicate, and over engineer, which in turn becomes overwhelming to use.

@mrhameljr It's literally not the same thing. One is open source, host anywhere, the other is a proprietary piece of tech.
I never said k8s is the hammer for every nail. It's not.
But it's ridiculously powerful, and people who fail with it are the ones that overcomplicated theirs.

@c4talyst They both achieve the same thing when you step back and look at them. Kubernetes with all these bolt-ons for load balancing, SSL, DNS, and application management, is all to self-host a cloud environment.
Kubernetes is not the be all end all method to self-host an app at scale.

I don't need helm to build and provision my app. A pipeline takes my AWS SAM Docker app, builds it, stores it in ECR, and deploys it as a Lambda with an ACM SSL cert, Route53 DNS, API gateway.

@c4talyst AWS CloudFormation files can be both JSON and YAML. It's all about how those files are used, syntax is key. A CloudFormation file is readable by the layman and almost self-documenting.
