@SimulantStimul1 Thank you! Combo of Sana biology and the design of the charges makes them survivable. Not super pleasant to use though. They have a niche in the twisty tunnels of the ruins which is why you often see artificers carrying them.

@sneggory They are! Kind of. They’re sort of like shucked mollusks/shellfish/turtles stuffed in robotic suits.

@caba111 Oo are the custodians a kind of mollusk? The eyes attached to the appendage remind me of a cone snail

@Rabbitwithagun2 They’re the Shell’s guardians and maintenance men. They spend most of their time running around fixing ancient infrastructure and discouraging Sana (lizardy guys) from looting it.

@xolimono Not all that often. Sana and custodians (these cyborg guardian things) rarely get this close to each other. Just a chance encounter where the lizard didn’t set off any “tripwires” that would’ve provoked a violent response.

@SlapMyKnuttz @meatnbeans11 There are other, unrelated strains of life though. Some of them are cave-adapted creatures that come from the darkness under the Shell. Others seem to come from somewhere else entirely.

@SlapMyKnuttz @meatnbeans11 Lizards have some idea what's up there. Material gets swept off the edge sometimes, and once in a while a larger chunk collapses. They can trace a lot of their current ecosystem to the "surface."

@SlapMyKnuttz @meatnbeans11 It's hard to nail down a date, but the rubble lizards inhabit collapsed relatively recent. It's like a new volcanic island--in most places, soil and vegetation is still in the process of forming, and an ecosystem is still figuring itself out.
