Fleck had a lot of good things to say about Gophers true freshman kicker Daniel Jackson: "This Daniel Jackson kid, I am just telling you, he's a true freshman — I knew this kid five years ago. This kid is from Alexandria, Minnesota, he runs like a 10.5s 100m dash. We might have some fakes coming from the field goal kicker. It might not just be the kicks; it might just be normal offensive plays from him in the kicking formation. He's always dreamed about being a Gopher. He's a fabulous human being, a really good person, a really good kicker." He also mentioned Syracuse transfer Brady Denaburg as one of "two guys in the kicking department... one of those guys will win the job."
