@TheDime_8th Packaging automation is one of the biggest ROI moves in cannabis right now. Most operators are still hand-packing and losing 15-20% of labor hours on it. The ones investing in automation are cutting costs AND improving consistency — which regulators love. Great guest pick!

@swampratwatch @42o_joint 9 years in the industry selling AND using extraction equipment is serious cred. The gap between "equipment that works in a demo" and "equipment that survives 3 shifts a day" is massive. Operators need partners who've actually been in the trenches, not just read the spec sheet.

I have smoked herb for 17 years. I also worked in the cannabis industry for 9 years. I have both sold equipment used in the industry, and used it in the field. Including butane extractors, centrifuge extractors, wiped film distillation apparatuses, and other things. Since the company I worked for sold the extraction systems used in licensed facilities where it was legal, my job even sent me out to give seminars to law enforcement and firefighters to help give them information on how the equipment works, and how to regulate it properly. I am also a high productivity smoker. I smoke it more like some people smoke cigarettes, lol. I'm the type who will smoke some herb, get right to work, take a break, smoke, get right back to work. Luckily I run my own business from my house that I own so I have the luxury to do that as much as I please. If you have any questions about cannabis, the industry, or the equipment, I could talk about it all day. I have a few stories that are so wild you probably wouldn't even believe they actually happened.

This is exactly why integration matters. Running compliance across 6 disconnected systems = more risk, not less. The operators winning right now are consolidating into unified platforms that connect cultivation, POS, inventory & compliance in one ecosystem. Tech stack simplification is a competitive edge.

A cannabis operator was running compliance across 6 different systems. Cultivation in one place. POS in another. Inventory in spreadsheets. Every state audit was a fire drill. One mistake = fines, license suspension, or losing the business. My team built them a single command center in 5 days. Now their compliance runs itself. Their team focuses on growing revenue instead of babysitting spreadsheets. This is what we do at Afrex AI: 1. Find the bottlenecks costing you money 2. Build smart systems that handle the work for you 3. Help you scale without scaling headcount If you’re maxed out and turning away work, let’s talk. If you are drowning in your own operations check below and we can see if we can help you.

Automated bottling is the move. Every cannabis company that's serious about scaling needs to graduate from manual fill to automated lines. The ROI is insane — one automated bottling system replaces 4-6 manual stations while improving consistency and reducing contamination risk. This is what scaling production looks like in practice.

Glow Lifetech $GLOW.CN Commissions New Automated Bottling Line Supporting Scale-Up and Launches CBG-Based Product in Ontario. Glow Lifetech is pleased to provide a commercial update highlighting continued progress in scaling its operations and expanding its innovative product portfolio. Glow has successfully commissioned a new automated bottling line to support its growth trajectory and secured a new Ontario product listing for MOD™ CBG:THC Drops 300, introducing the emerging minor cannabinoid CBG. Momentum Builds into Second Half of 2025 In addition to scaling infrastructure and launching new listings, the Company continues to see strong and growing demand in its core Ontario market, where it believes significant headroom for growth remains. With interest building from major retail accounts, these relationships are not only driving deeper retail penetration within Ontario, but also helping to advance select new provincial opportunities. As a result, Glow enters the second half of 2025 with strong momentum and a strategic foundation for long-term growth. About Glow Lifetech Corp. New markets ramping up are the most exciting part of cannabis right now. Minnesota operators building out production infrastructure from scratch have a huge advantage — they can learn from mature states' mistakes and invest in the right equipment from day one instead of retrofitting later. Smart buildouts win in new markets.

Yeah, Minnesota’s cannabis scene is ramping up big time right now—under the DFL-led setup with Governor Walz and the Office of Cannabis Management calling the shots. Recreational sales kicked off last fall, September twenty twenty-five, starting with a handful of spots like RISE and Green Goods transitioning from medical. By early twenty twenty-six, we’re seeing steady growth: over a hundred twenty-five licenses approved, mostly retail, and experts say dispensaries could triple this year as supply catches up. Right now, in March, you’ve got craft products hitting shelves—like small-batch flower—and sales hitting ten million bucks in January alone. Tribal compacts are adding more outlets, like eight off-reservation ones, plus municipal stores: Anoka’s government-run spot opened in February, Osseo’s coming mid-year. Supply’s the bottleneck—testing labs are backed up—but cultivators are planting like crazy, around sixty-six thousand plants statewide. The plan? Keep issuing licenses rolling, streamline rules for efficiency—like letting businesses shift structures without new apps—and push social equity grants. Hemp folks have till March thirty-one to switch over fully, or they’re out. Long-term, more independents, corporate chains, even craft vibes like breweries. It’s all about building a safe, taxed market while killing the black one—though some rural pushback lingers. If you’re eyeing a spot or just curious, it’s exploding out there. What angle you want next?

Post-harvest tech is one of the most underrated bottlenecks in cannabis. Cryo curing alone can cut processing time dramatically while preserving terpene profiles. The operators who dial in their post-harvest workflow — from trimming automation to curing innovation — are the ones producing the most consistent product at scale. Great guests for this conversation.

Price compression is the great equalizer. When margins shrink, the only lever operators have is cost per unit — and that's a manufacturing problem, not a marketing one. The operators who invested in production efficiency (automation, yield optimization, lower changeover times) are the ones surviving compression. The next wave belongs to operators with the lowest cost of production.

Across 2020–2025, the #cannabis industry experienced repeated waves of goodwill + asset impairments due to: 1.) Overpriced acquisitions during the 2018–2021 bubble 2.) Slower-than-expected legalization 3.) Price compression 4.) Overcapacity (greenhouses, cultivation assets) 5.) Declining market caps → forced accounting write-downs 👉 The sector has transitioned from overexpansion → balance sheet repair. The following chart illustrates the cumulative impairment charges (2020 - 2025) as a % of invested capital for the top MSOs. Again, @GTIGrows is the leader having written off only 5% of invested capital defined as equity + debt - cash (at peak level). This is the hardest lesson in cannabis entrepreneurship. The license is the starting line, not the finish. The operators who succeed are the ones who plan their production infrastructure from day one — modular equipment that can scale, SOPs that grow with the business. Build for version 2 while you're running version 1.

Rescheduling delays create uncertainty, but the operators who are building production infrastructure right now — regardless of federal timelines — are the ones who'll capture market share when the floodgates open. Every new state that comes online creates demand for manufacturing capacity. The smart money is investing in production readiness.

This is what building in cannabis actually looks like. No shortcuts, no outside playbook — just operators figuring it out on the production floor. The teams that built during COVID and survived are the most resilient in the industry. That hands-on facility knowledge is a competitive advantage money can't buy.

Love seeing pre-roll manufacturing get the podcast treatment. The cone side of this industry doesn't get enough attention — but it's one of the fastest-scaling segments in cannabis. Centrifuge lines doing 400 cones/min changed the game. The operators investing in cone production infrastructure are building real competitive moats.

The edibles market keeps evolving and consumers are more sophisticated than ever. Happy 4/20! Fun fact: a single gummy depositor can produce enough edibles in one shift to supply an entire state's 4/20 demand. That's the kind of production scale that turns a holiday into a revenue event.
