BREAKING: Aotearoa New Zealand has officially banned greyhound racing. 🐕❤️ The Racing Industry (Closure of Greyhound Racing Industry) Amendment Bill passed its third and final reading in parliament today. An incredible 112 votes to 11. Commercial greyhound racing will end on 1 August 2026. Minds are changing. Laws are changing. Scotland and Wales both banned greyhound racing just last month. It is incredible to see governments around the world stepping up to protect greyhounds. We know greyhound racing is cruel and no amount of reform can make it safe for dogs. This must continue until it ends everywhere. Australia is now one of the last countries in the world still racing greyhounds. In Tasmania, legislation to phase out greyhound racing has passed the lower house and faces a final vote in the coming weeks. Here in NSW… it's another story, weak government responses while dogs continue to be injured and killed on the track.
