Did you know? Many children in Cabarrus County live in a book desert. "Book deserts" are areas where families have 10 or less books at home. This is the case for more children than you think. Our goal is to eradicate book deserts for Cabarrus County students.

Sometimes all a child needs to learn to read is a little inspiration from a friend. Reading + Mentoring 4 Success provides brand new books to build kids' at home libraries AND pairs trained mentors with students who need a little strategic support. ccefnc.org

Reading aloud to your child allows them to hear correct expression and phrasing of words, motivates them to want to become good readers, helps them to see & recognize common words or "sight words," and makes reading more fun and interesting.
