This morning I went to vote NO at the HOPE WAY polling site in Alexandria. While checking in, I mentioned I may need to grab my driver’s license from my car. An election worker (Robin is her name) told me, “You don’t need your ID, we can verify you, you’ll be fine.” I responded, no I need my ID. After finding it, I checked in and said clearly that everyone should show ID. That’s when the worker began arguing, saying “not everyone has ID, some can’t afford it, there are many reasons why.” That’s not just inappropriate, it’s electioneering from a poll worker. Totally unacceptable.

I don’t think VA dems are “stunned” by the voting habits of many rural voters, which is typical of their voting all along, but this post left out the little detail that the referendum passed and dems are thus permitted to redistrict.

That was true in Minnesota in the mid-1980s as well; I am proof. There’s a book about this by Will Bunch called After the Ivory Tower Falls. Part of the problem was the decline in federal and state government support for public universities, while faculty salaries climbed.

Those examples are all old world values. The first colonists and immigrants for the most part came to the new world (as it was called in the language of the time) to create a different kind of place, with tolerance and unity in difference, not to mention liberty from kings.
