I've joined @OpenAI as a Member of Technical Staff. AI will shape the future of humanity in profound ways. I believe those of us who can help build it have a responsibility to help steer it in a direction that benefits everyone, for all humankind. The future is bright, but it takes hard work and care to make it that way. Very excited to play my part.

@LLMJunky @cursor_ai @ryolu_ imo the biggest "whoa" moment for me is that: i always felt like i need to switch back-n-forth between the app and nvim when i use these tools (i use codex and opencode desktop mainly) but when using cursor i don't feel like i need to

fair, here's what makes it better: - has a code editor (iirc only conductor and superset do), supports "Add to chat" and many LSP/editor features competitors lack like autocomplete - browser with design mode, devtools and history - doesn't feel laggy like other apps and many subtle details... i don't think the others are bad, but the overall experience just feels different to me

im sorry to announce: the new @cursor_ai "Glass" desktop app framemogged all other agentic IDEs. best-in-class UI/UX, period. waaaay ahead of codex, opencode desktop, conductor etc. i should never have doubted you, @ryolu_

Today is my last day at Vercel. I've had an absolute blast over the last year. I got to work on a lot of my own projects that helped form the basis for our AI Cloud, helped other teams ship their great ideas, and worked alongside some of the most talented people I've ever met. I'll have news on my next adventure for you on Tuesday but for now, wanted to reflect on my time here and the projects I worked on. Read on if you're interested ↓

skills is still not sitting right with me as a concept i think it's because companies rushed to them as the next big thing as is what happens with all ai things now everyone is their docs as skills but it's recreating all the issues (authority, up to dateness) docs solved

the cultural and political aspects of the issue, which you say you don’t understand in, are significant in why the “China would never agree to pause AI” argument is a strong one. and you said “Chinese people don’t want to die”, which is entirely orthogonal to the whole discussion.

Chinese people are human too. They don't want to be killed by superintelligent AI either.

people are sleeping on generative UI
Guillermo Rauch@rauchg

Every month I periodically see the recycled take that “something better than chat” is coming for AI. That chat is temporary. In fact, I predict the opposite. More of our work and life will happen through chat and voice interfaces of increasingly intelligent agents. 🦞 OpenClaw is the lobster in the coal mine of this. It’s true that as humans we consume with all the senses. When we use our internal company agent at @vercel, it can answer any question in English, but also plot data and richly visualize it. All in the chat medium. You start with any question, and receive periodic reports, much like an enterprise claw, on @slackhq. If the chat is not enough, you’re one click away from more depth and refinement on a web page. I don’t believe web pages are going anywhere. Many will evolve to accept natural language, which is the lingua franca of AI, and stream both text and complex data. We call this Generative UI (eg: json-render.dev). And web pages will also be crucial in enriching the conversations that happen elsewhere, whether you’re chatting with your agent on WhatsApp or Slack. We’re building chat-sdk.dev to make this universal interface as easy to deploy as possible.

@cramforce Maybe I should’ve done it on my personal account, or maybe I setup the npm publish pipeline too early, I’m… sorry?? I really thought I’d come proper prepared and tested before chatting with you. Yeah it was fully vibed while I was chilling in spain

i don’t understand why people are mad with this? valid points made in the article: - removing beta disclaimer is bad - worse code esp in security is bad - ai slop & hallucinated false claims are bad - why fork when u can contribute to the repo

@threepointone it’s sad to see the issue handled in such way tho so much unnecessary drama can be avoided if we communicate intents better, and don’t blast X articles on each other :(

i admire @threepointone work and have no stakes in the vercel vs cf beef but this fork (@cloudflare/shell) is published as a public package on npm it could easily be mistakenly used by cf customers without knowing it’s experimental?
