Ohio’s nursing homes are dumping patients at homeless shelters apnews.com/article/ohio-n…

♦️♦️BECOMING A FOSTER❓🇺🇸♦️♦️ Please take 2 minutes, don’t skip it. It’s crucial 🙏🏻 American shelter pups need reliable fosters more than anything else to survive! Considering the high return rate after adoption, plus all the killings, I would say a good foster is way more important than a randomly chosen No-fit family. I’m begging you to think about becoming a foster. But a true one! Please let me explain what this means or should mean imo: I’m in Germany, no kill shelters. For 15 years, I constantly foster dogs coming from horribly crowded shelters in Sardegna (Italian island). No kill shelters, but other cruelties and issues. I’m blessed to belong to a German rescue team doing an outstanding job. Will do some posts about this soon. Our name is program: saving-dogs.com The centerpiece: FOSTER families! ♥️ I fostered normal pups, seniors, wheelchair dogs, livestock guardian dogs, pups before/after surgery, dogs with trauma. Even a girl with severe brain damage, resulting in neurological issues, ongoing seizures and weird behavior. It’s Lana in the poster below. She’s on perfect medication, no seizures since 2 years and enjoying her own family life meanwhile. Never give up! I had 36 foster pups so far. They all found loving homes BUT: Some stayed 4 weeks with me, others 3 months, Lana took 2 years! Don’t set limits - you can’t know how long it lasts ⬇️ You need 🔹empathy🔹patience🔹100% loyalty until the day of adoption. No matter what’s coming your way. Deal with it. Your experience will excel. Of course there are exceptions like ongoing severe fights with your own dog. (I don’t mean a one time growl). A nip on your ankle or hand is not a bite incident or a reason to return your foster. A good choice of your foster dog is important. Your foster dog needs to be a full patch family member. You love them like your own dog, treat and feed them like your own pup. No stepchild label. It’s about building trust and confidence, training, education, love and cuddles, about preparing a dog with a probably poor past (empathy!) for his future family. Is it always easy? Nope. Did I have a meltdown about their issues sometimes? Sure 😆 Is a poop or pee accident a catastrophe? Hell, NO! Do I have a partial demanding but absolutely satisfying job? YES 😍 Nothing compares to the feeling to see a neglected or broken soul blossoming- promised. 🔺Please: Don’t teach your foster dog about love and family life, let him sniff what luck is - just to throw it back into the pond hell after 14 days, 3 months etc. That’s absolutely cruel and just another dump! And doubles down the kill risk🔺 YOU could be the game changer. YOU could mean the difference between life and death. It’s a high responsibility, because this dog depends on your stamina and compassion. It’s like adopting a child for a certain time. Posting here is important, retweets and pledges are crucial. But you can also decide to save a life with your own hands! Just by sharing your home and heart with a dog in need. Isn’t that great? Yes it is 🙌🏻 Become a true foster. Especially for all the solid(!) rescues who can’t pull dogs without help. It will make you a complete different person in the best way possible. Thank you for your time. And share this wide and far please. For the dogs 🐕👊 PS. I love my own foster failures. The latest is Falcas buddy Dexxter. Horrible puppy life, mom and siblings died, abused by a family, rescued with 4 months in Italy. Today a spoiled 16 months old family member in Germany 🥳

Update on Graf: final extension - Monday 4/20. There is interest and a committed foster but foster can’t take him w/o a rescue. Please keep sharing, messaging, there has to be a rescue or adopter who can help this sweet boy from east valley LA shelter in SoCal.
