@qhdbfmky @Philip_RJ89 Nowadays every PL at SAFC game will sellout, we have to plan to be a PL team. Strike while the iron is hot.

@ciffa17 @Philip_RJ89 but who wants an extra 10k empty seats potentially more if we start struggling because we all know how inconsistent attendances have been

Any SOL expansion at this stage would be very, very premature, for me. Let’s see where we are in four or five years’ time — after all, who saw the post-2001 downturn coming after we expanded to 49,000? Things can change very, very rapidly at this level. #SAFC

@Philip_RJ89 We could finish top 10 next season and STILL be relegated the season after, that's the nature of football. So what you might have more empty seats if we went down, use the PL to grow the club. Ellis Short spent way more than Bob Murray but left nowhere near as much of a legacy.

@ciffa17 And if things — God forbid — do go wrong, what then? Demand drops off, as it’s often done since 1997, and you’re potentially back to square one. The idea is fine. The timing isn’t. We need to see how we progress during next season and beyond.

@Philip_RJ89 We weren't always selling out, even with a reduced capacity. Whereas nowadays we are absolutely selling out every game. SAFC need to be the club where you can get a ticket, because we probably can't be the club who make big tourist money or over charge the locals.

@ciffa17 We weren’t getting that at Roker Park in the 1990s because of the Taylor Report. It forced us to reduce the capacity enormously.

@RokerReport I refuse to believe Jill Scott got more votes than the club's all time top goalscorer or it's founder.

This should have been a really brilliant thing but it feels tainted slightly by the inclusion of certain people over others more deserving. Can only hope that this is rectified somehow, as otherwise it’ll feel like a real missed opportunity to honour real #SAFC legends properly.

@CRVisuals_ He doesn't care about anyone's opinion, as long as you are interacting he's happy. Hence the way-OTT opinions and the fake anger as he records himself at the match. $$$

As a Sunderland fan I had the same worry. The last two games in particular after reaching safety, Sunderland have attacked way more than we ever were during a game and creating a lot more and getting in much better positions in front of goal. I promise you, we are already improving on that and we will recruit to strengthen our attack to help with it We don’t all stand still 👍
Geordie Josh@geordiejosh

People actually think I’m ragebaiting on this, I’m as serious as I was when I said they play hit & hope football that isn’t sustainable, look at their xg records. Choose to ignore all of this now in your honeymoon season, we’ll all come back to this next season. 👍

@RokerReport I mean they've totally ruined what should have been a good idea. Jill Scott and Jermain Defoe, embarrassing.

@kelvmackenzie I think small clubs do this never had it happen to me at a big club but the small clubs try and take whatever they can get.

Sunderland’s security staff made Spurs fans hand over their phone chargers and small change ahead of Sunday’s game. The chargers were returned, the coins weren’t. Staff said the money would go to Spurs official charity. Mmmm. Giving is voluntary, taking isn’t. Hand it back.

@SkySports_Keith Could you imagine if SAFC make European competition and Saudi don't? You'd have to pretend like "all clubs are equal" when we all know it's not the crack

The more you think about last summer’s transfer window, the more it has killed Newcastle’s season - and will also hamstring them in future windows. £222m worth of talent signed last summer (4 players) on the bench today, only getting a handful of minutes between them. If even two of them had been an immediate success (like Isak, Bruno G, Trippier, Burn etc were) #NUFC would be in a much stronger position and IMO in European places. In addition to the psychological problems when they go in front (25 point dropped from winning positions), it feels like there’s a real issue with staleness in the team. You can get away with one big-money signing not working out…but not 4 in one window. (NB. I think Ramsey is a player btw, but he’s not played enough due to injury).
Craig Hope@CraigHope_DM

💰 Eddie Howe when asked why £124m strikeforce Nick Woltemade & Yoane Wissa again started on the bench 🗣️ "I don't pick the team based on transfer fees. I have to pick the team based on what I see. I thought Will Osula was training well and deserved to start. I thought he played well. He took his goal well. He's got the physical attributes, the determination to do really well."

Tottenham are the worst team we’ve played at the SOL in a long, long time mind. Zero quality, zero fight, non-stop theatrics… just utter shite!

Seeing a lot of people saying they want to see Sunderland win tomorrow, bizarre. No matter how funny it would be to see Spurs go down, should never want them fuckers to win. #NUFC

@MOTweets1919 Sunderland are dreadful. Ridden their luck all season including both games against us. They are probably the worst team in the Prem. I expect nothing from them. Villa are returning to form tho and have something to play for...

🚨 Eddie Howe on the fall-out from the Sunderland defeat: 🗣️ “You certainly don’t go home from that game and move on quickly — you know the importance of the game. You know the feeling you’ve let people down. 🗣️ There’s going to be consequences from the result so you understand all of that, the criticism is part of the deal when you lose big games like that and we are fully prepared to that. 🗣️ “But you have to do something productive. There’s no point wallowing and sitting on the negativity. You have to actually do something to come back, improve, grow and get better. 🗣️ “The only way you are going to do that is to actually break down what we need to do going forward. So that’s what we have done and I think we have done some good work. Obviously, the test of that will be on Sunday.”
