This is the cost of the Namami Gange programme. Over ₹42,000 crore has been allocated under different phases to clean and rejuvenate the Ganga. Thousands of crores for sewage treatment plants, riverfront development, drain interception, and monitoring. Hundreds of projects sanctioned. Annual budgets continue to flow. And then there is this video from Rishikesh. Sewage water flowing directly into the Ganga. No treatment. No diversion. No urgency. Just dirty water entering the river in full public view. This is not a hidden issue. People working on the ground have been raising it consistently. Ashutosh Kothari ji and @thehimadri14 have been flagging this problem for more than a year now. Complaints, videos, field reports, repeated warnings. The discharge points are known. The damage is visible. Yet nothing changes. So where is the outrage? Where is the accountability? If ₹42,000 crore cannot stop untreated sewage from entering the Ganga in a place like Rishikesh, then what exactly is this money being spent on? This is not about politics or paperwork. It is about outcomes. About the gap between official claims and ground reality. About a river that is spoken of as sacred but treated with routine neglect. When citizens can clearly see sewage entering the Ganga, silence from the system is not ignorance anymore. It is indifference. @narendramodi @cleanganganmcg
