My daughter’s school announced yesterday it’s shutting down. No warning. Just shutting down. 100s of distraught kids.   Why? Labour’s tax hikes on school fees & NI hikes on staff. A high-quality, nurturing school forced to close because of greedy, arrogant taxation. Disgusting. All it does is pile more pressure on overcrowded state schools.  How can ANYONE justify taxing education. Labour are destroying the very foundations of our children’s future.  What an absolute disgrace. @UKLabour

NB I use the word annual not a sudden need to find 3-4 annual increases in one go only 1 term after this years annual increase. You plan for annual and expect some pay rise to cover some. Who’s had a 28% rise this year? You?

And all this for what? Very little certainty of the financial case. Great certainty about the harms (see Greece!) And in the best case scenario it will deliver 1/3 of a teacher per school (over the course of the Parliament) #SchoolFeeVAT - it's not worth it #FindABetterWay #EducationNotTax
