D1 wants her next book to be about a strong girl who has an adventure with an animal companion and maybe a boy, and there’s magic. Sounds like His Dark Materials, really, but D1 is eight, so those are a couple of years away. Anyone got any other suggestions for a strong reader?

My lovely lady volunteers every week at a local wildlife trust nature reserve, doing a warden round and collecting litter. Last week I went with her on her rounds. I can’t comprehend the mindset of people that visit a nature reserve and then leave their rubbish? #Unbelievable
