Rory seems like a really nice guy, maybe too nice. He has the best swing flexibility/rhythm I've seen since Snead, generating as much small-man power as any golfer ever at 5-9, 165. BUT I STILL DON'T LOVE OR TRUST HIS FLIMSY INTANGIBLES, HIS KILLER/THRILLER INSTINCT.

Watching my golf and seeing Rory McILROY falling about by the seams. Bad enough he lost a 6-Shot lead on Saturday, walking into Sunday as a co-leader, but now he’s missing gimme’s, surrending the lead to Cameron Young, who’s now got a 2-Shot lead. Not Good. Not Good at all

I am not going to bother with making this a newsletter segment or its own blog post, but I wanted to write a few words about Rory's 3-wood into No. 8 today. If you want to "be happy for me, or sad it happened, but you ain't reading all that" no offense taken. But here it is: This was the kind of shot Rory used to make a mess of early in the Masters. He was stuck in neutral after 7 holes, not hitting driver well, and lacking any juice in his round. His ball was in the first cut, on the right side of the hole, and he felt like it was a 5 wood distance. There is a time when he would have nuked that club and maybe hit left, or long, or lost the plot completely. But he decided to dial it back, choke down on a 3 wood, and try to chase it back to the pin. He knew it would come out low and with more spin of the first cut, and it did exactly that, a bullet that hit well short of the green and chased forward to 15 feet. He's not a thrower anymore, he's a pitcher, painting the corners at times. It was the first of five birdies, and the kind of thing I enjoy the most about watching him in this stage of his career — when he has to be a thinker and manufacture the right shot and trust that it's the right decision. The little club twirl as the ball left the face was a sign he is dialed in already and going to give this a hell of a run at defending.

@SmallerFishGAA The catch from SOS free was a ‘Mark’, took place before the hooter, therefore if hooter went before the score then the ref would have allowed the Mark free kick. i.e. the ref could have blown for the Mark before the hooter, but instead played advantage

Very messy end to the Kerry game When the free was blown there was 7 secs left but clock on TV continued on counting 5 more secs. From when SOS kicked to Kennedy scoring i counted 6 secs. If the referee stopped his watch when he blew the foul then he was right. The hooter is more trouble than it's worth

🚨NEW EPISODE🚨 🇮🇪The Irish War of Independence: The Violence Begins🇮🇪 How did the Irish War of Independence begin? How violent were the IRA’s early tactics, and how sectarian? What clever strategy helped the Irish outfox British control? As empires crumbled after WWI and new states mushroomed across Europe, was Ireland’s revolution truly unique? And how did the legendary Michael Collins rise to become one of the most formidable leaders of the independence movement?
