Buy some land to rewild! If you have savings or a house you’re willing to trade, the most rewarding, joyful and most impactful thing you can possibly do with it is to buy a piece of land somewhere, large or small, preferably of low agricultural productivity, with or without a building, and set about restoring it to vibrant nature. You’ll change your life forever. Do it do it 🦫

Here is a photo that shows the scale of the proposed massive solar panel development in East Yorkshire. This is happening in so many areas across the UK. It’s wrong on so many different levels. Put solar panels on brownfields, roofs and car parks rather than on quality farmland.

Mass-scale panels on prime farmland shouldn’t ever be approved. As well as being blots on beautiful countryside, it reduces food supply. Put solar on brownfields, car parks and roofs instead.

Our fault
Dr Tom Montgomery@DrTOMontgomery

#Climate 3 worried cubs: There are now only ~600 polar bears in the Western Hudson Bay, one of the most threatened of all the 20 populations; that’s half the number of 40 years ago. Sea ice changes means polar bear mothers can’t feed their cubs, so they starve. Our fault.

@jm0ses @Right_2Roam Ok, how do you think the lessons from this paper, albeit for North American species, might apply to UK species’ responses? While not universal, we might reasonably expect commonality between taxa. Elk are, after all, Cervidae.

After a brutal comment from a fellow artist earlier this year, I've not painted any more night time pictures. But I do miss them and love capturing the night. I will again, just not yet.
