If you ignore the groupthink and recency bias, letterboxd is actually a great source of movie recommendations. It’s FAR better than IMDb for finding great classic films

Why didn’t Criticker have a growth strategy to expand and appeal more users. In my opinion it was better than Letterboxd, loved features like probable score & TCI, but it was not as user friendly, didn’t even have a mobile app, so all went in vain I guess. Still using it though..

Die Leut, wo auf #IMDb & #Criticker bewerten, haben die Skalierung ned ganz verstanden. Ich kann doch ned sagen, "7/10★ = 70/100%", wenn Criticker unten bei 0 anfängt & IMDb erst bei 1★. Der Algo spuckt nur gude Empfehlungen aus, wenn er sein Kraftfudder kriegt.

Criticker normalizes scores b/w users using percentile ranks. A simple trick in hindsight but it works amazingly well. good products from great ones.

Everyone talking about Letterboxd but not enough love for the OG @criticker. It's something I've used for nearly 15 years now and I found >50% of my top 50 movies due to Criticker
