One of my favorite moments of playing FFXIV for the first time was popping into my group chat at like 10 PM on a Wednesday and just saying "The Final Day Now Available" and watching seven people IMMEDIATELY assemble on extremely short notice to help me do the trial.

people wanting to get into ffxiv by skipping to the newest expac really vindicates the idea that lots of people don’t get into games to experience them anymore, they do it to be part of the conversation and whatever lets them join that conversation the fastest takes priority

This is actually what I love about FFXIV and why we're called emotional vampires. Why, yes, I'll run the vault the 500th time if it means seeing someone live through that in real time and ensuring their story experience isnt marred by a bad dungeon experience lmao. It's great.

ALRIGHTY CHALLENGE ACCEPTED IF I LOSE - I FANTASIA INTO A MALE ROE FOR A MONTH

they should add positionals to healers so if i don't position right i heal the boss instead i think it'd be mad funny

Honestly, if you don't care about story, and you just want to play an MMORPG that's focused entirely around endgame, then I'm not sure Final Fantasy XIV is for you. So much of it is about the journey, rather than the destination, like how classic RPG's used to be. If you just want endgame, which is fine, I'd honestly play World of Warcraft instead, instead of trying to push Final Fantasy XIV to be like World of Warcraft. We can have different games for different people. Final Fantasy XIV is about going on a long and slow journey of exploration, meeting and befriending both story characters and other players, and becoming attached to the world and its mysteries. So many of its most impactful and awe inducing moments are exactly because of that slow journey it took you to get there. And if that's not your you, again, that's okay. But you should probably find another game.
