Valves? Every cylinder needs valves to let the fuel and air in, and to let the exhaust gases out. Modern cars usually have 4 valves per cylinder (2 for intake and 2 for exhaust). So, if you do the math: 👉🏽A V6 engine typically has 24 valves (6 cylinders × 4 valves). 👉🏽A V8 engine typically has 32 valves (8 cylinders × 4 valves). You will often see this written on engine covers or in car specs as "V6 24V" or "V8 32V" which can definitely look confusing if you don't know that the second "V" stands for valves!
