Grand Island boys have earned a spot in the state’s Elite Eight with a resounding 77-51 win vs Monroe from Rochester. The Vikings rode a 23-10 2nd Quarter to build a 16-point lead at the half. Dane Brown knocked down 39 pts (22 in the first half) with five triples. Chase Uribes continues his great play with 19. The Vikings are 23-2. Regional Quarterfinal back at Buffalo State Saturday at 6 pm.

Grand Island hoops captured the A1 crown with a 63-39 win over fellow NFL team, Lewiston Porter. The Vikings jumped out hot with an 18-4 lead after one but the hustling Lancers cut into the lead. A 22-point 3rd Q by the Vikes helped them move on. DBrown led with 30 and KJ Wilkes added 12. Michael Wylke hit for 21 for L-P. Overall A Final is Sunday at 4 pm at Buff State.

Grand Island boys basketball defeated a tough N. Wheatfield team, 68-60. The Falcons were tough all night hitting several 3’s to keep it close. Dane Brown went for 27 pts for GI while Ryan Mayer had 14 big points. Castiglia and Wilkes contributed seven each. Vikings are 7-1 and 4-0.

Grand Island boys basketball is at the KSA Disney Tournament this week. The Vikings won its 1st game against RePublic HS of Nashville, 73-37. Dane Brown led all scorers with 33 points, including five 3’s & 12 boards. Jake Castiglia added 16 pts for the Vikings while Jon Neville and Ryan Mayer each scored 7. Chase Uribes added 6 of his own. GI is 6-0 and 3-0 in the NFL. The Vikings play powerhouse Western Branch of Chesapeake VA tomorrow.
