@RussIowa Can’t argue against the excitement of championship week. But you cheapen the value of your 3-month regular season by turning it into a 3-day tournament. If you send your best to March Madness, you’re going to improve the overall 68-team bracket and create more upset opportunities

I like the conference tournaments deciding NCAA berths. These two weeks are awesome because so much is on the line. But if you're in, say, a top 15 conference and your champ gets upset, they'd still get in ahead of those 10th or 11th place teams in the big conferences. I didn't really vet this but here's generally what that would look like.

This bubble is going to leave a lot of quality programs out. Expand the field to 80.

@RussIowa I have always been a proponent for regular season champs in small conferences getting the AQs.

I am, however, mocking everyone on CBB "Twitter" who is whining about the bad bubble this year. Yeah. We know. This year would be a bad year to expand the tournament. New auto-bid idea. AQs from the conference tournaments — same as always. And, if you're in a 12 or 15 conference by metrics, auto-bid for the regular season champions if they didn't win their tourney. Auburn shouldn't be in the same conversations as Miami-Ohio.

@RussIowa Agree. Iowa is probably OK. But yeah, a loss on Wednesday could get a bit uncomfortable having to monitor and root against potential bid stealers from mid-majors.

@danieljbreen I definitely want Iowa to get out of the 8-9 range. But losing to Oregon/Maryland would make my tummy nervous until Selection Sunday. I think they're OK no matter what but I don't want to find out.

So: Because of how the seeds fell in conference tournaments, Iowa (11 a.m.) and Iowa State (11:30 a.m.) will tip off within 30 minutes of each other on Wednesday – and again on Thursday if they both take care of business. Make friends with your local sports bar server and be nice to your boss (or be a nice boss).
