Also dogs and other lesser creatures do not have souls and are unclean so they are not permitted into heaven. My opinion of other faiths lowers the more I learn about/analyze any of them.

I could say the same. We can go back and forth. What's your point? They exist on both ends of the spectrum. I, as a protestant, see more Catholics saying it. You, as a Catholic, see more Protestants say it. I could go on about what I don't like about the Catholic church but it doesn't matter. I believe as long as you believe in Jesus, confess Him your savior, confess your sins and seek His grace and forgiveness, and live as He prescribes to the best of your ability, you'll make Heaven. I don't think a difference in theology beyond those things is going to damn one person over another
