ICU Nurses care for the vulnerable. They provide services, from medical treatment & resuscitation to basic human needs of feeding, bathing, cleaning & providing hope. They are compassionate, empathetic & humble. They provide safety & refuge, they never intend to cultivate fear.

This is an important case for diastolic function assessment that was corrected in 2025 guideline. A main lesson is " Diastolic Function can be normal with reduced EF and/ or myocardial infarction." We should not adjudicate diastolic dysfunction based on clinical data. Always use mitral e' (Echo tau), E/e' , and TR. This patient has relatively normal medial e'. IVRT was measured somewhat short, but is challenging to measure, sometimes. PV A reversal is a little high and ends after mitral A, so probably mildly increased LVEdP, but mean LV diastolic P is normal. 2016 guideline would have assessed his diastolic as grade 3. Will be nice to show normal TR velocity. #JKnott @MayoClinicCV fellow presented our data that 22% of patients with reduced LVEF have normal DF by Echo and #AIECG.@SNagueh @AJamilTajik
