Tony Popovic's leadership role in the Socceroos' golden generation era team was underrated, much like his coaching credentials. He's never courted publicity, but peers & many players agree about his aura & high standards. It's also a sign of Aussie coaches' progress - since Frank Lowy made the 'bold' move to appoint Aussie Ange Postecoglou, 3 of 4 coaches have been locals, & all the contenders this time around (Muscat, Aloisi, etc) were Aussie. Well done to Arnie on a 6-year stint that included a record-equalling Round of 16 World Cup campaign.
