मैं हमेशा यह समझता रहा हूँ कि नारी का अपनी देह से रिश्ता, सम्पूर्ण रिश्ता होता है, जो पुरुष को अपने शरीर से महसूस नहीं होता है, पुरुष अंनतः अपनी देह का अतिक्रमण करके किसी ऊपर की अशरीरी चीज़ (आत्म? ईश्वर ?) पाना चाहता है, जबकि स्त्री की आत्मा स्वयं उसकी देह में पगती है, बसती है-वह स्वयं ईश्वर या आत्मा को अपने देह से अलग नहीं कर सकती | पुरुष शरीर को divine के रास्ते पर सबसे बड़ी बाधा मानता है, स्त्री की divinity स्वयं उसकी देह की सुन्दरता में वास करती है। - निर्मल वर्मा

Nirmal Verma writes in his letter of being disillusioned with Delhi's intellectual and environmental scene: मेरे लिये अब दिल्ली में रहना उत्तरोत्तर असहनीय-सा होता जा रहा है। डॉक्टरों ने भी सलाह दी है-कि साल में कम से कम छः-सात महीने मुझे धूल-गर्द से अलग किसी स्वच्छ और साफ़ वायुमण्डल में बिताने चाहिये। दिल्‍ली में अब कोई ऐसा बौद्धिक-मानसिक आकर्षण भी नहीं रह गया है, जो वहाँ टिकने के लिये लालायित कर सके। Quite relatable!
