Hi friends! Sarah and I would like to update our plateware (which predominantly sports that post-college just-graduated vibe). Current North Star is Heath, but curious what other beautiful options others might have discovered? Do you have plates/bowls/servingware you love?

Advance copy of the *checks notes* 5th printing of the Aviary book - copy #75,001. We check to verify the print run went as expected. Sarah and I change the bookmark and head/tail band color each time we print, mostly to amuse ourselves but also to better keep track of them.

Hi twittery friends, a question about colors: I would like to use some code to pick some colors that look nice as a family, e.g. from a palette like those found here: instagram.com/topiatones/

@tr_babb I think I understand that this (k-means) algo is looking for low-frequency clusters of color, sort of like an FFT (?). Is there a way I can find small accent colors?

@tr_babb Hey sir, a followup question: I have a little python script here that works more or less wonderfully for this, except! It seems to fail to pick up small-but-important accent colors. Say, a warm lightbulb in an otherwise coolly-lit night scene.

But I want something scalable, so curating hundreds of movie posters probably won't work well. How else could I do this?

So, like, maybe I make a big folder of cool 70's movie posters, and have an intelligent way of picking, say, 5 colors from those that aren't too close together in HSV.
