Grim scenario! It pains to note that 1.05 billion tonnes of food was 'wasted' globally in 2022, and that India is the second-largest contributor to global food waste, with around 78 million tonnes of food wasted annually, according to United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Food Waste Index Report 2024. The UNEP report emphasizes that this massive wastage coexists with high rates of hunger and malnutrition. Food waste has indeed become an issue of great public concern globally. Governments and other international bodies must work in tandem to promote awareness on this critical issue and develop policies to reduce food loss and wastage. There must also be coordination among food supply chain actors - farmers, handlers, processors and traders in collaboration with the public and private sectors and the civil society to prevent food wastage. Educating people in a sustained manner on safe food handling, proper food storage in households and understanding "best before" dates will be of some help in tackling the issue. Discarding food is not sustainable for our earth and the environment.

Need for policy preparedness! 🇮🇳 A recent report by the United Nations Development Programme has raised serious concerns about the wider impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. It warns that prolonged instability in the region could push nearly 2.5 million Indians into poverty, highlighting how global crises can directly affect domestic economies. India has strong economic ties with West Asian countries, especially in energy imports and employment. Any disruption in oil supplies can lead to rising fuel prices, which in turn increases the cost of living. Higher transportation and production costs often translate into inflation, affecting essential goods and services. This burden is felt most by low and middle income households. Additionally, many Indian workers in the region depend on remittances sent back home. Conflict can threaten jobs and reduce these inflows, weakening family incomes. The report underscores the urgent need for policy preparedness to cushion vulnerable populations. Without timely intervention, external shocks like war could deepen inequality and reverse hard-earned economic progress in India.

Is Tata Group compromised? Ratan Tata dedicated his life to this nation. But after he is gone, something has changed inside. At TCS Nashik, Islamist operatives ran a conversion operation for four years. Team leads. HR. WhatsApp groups. Targeted young Hindu womens. Nine FIRs. Seven arrests. HR official arrested for burying complaints. Four years. Inside India's most trusted IT company. On the other side, Air India Flight AI171 crashed on June 12, 2025. 241 people died. The Turkish firm was handling ground operations at Ahmedabad airport. They had access to ramp, cargo, bridge ops, the full pre-flight window. The same Turkey who want to wage war against India. Both Air India and TCS belong to the Tata Group. If hostile forces chose Tata precisely because no one suspects Tata, that is not a coincidence. That is a strategy. I am not calling this proven. I am raising the question that no one in the mainstream wants to ask. The government must conduct a full security audit of Tata Group entities. Not a press conference. A forensic audit. The trust premium attached to the Tata name may be the very reason it was targeted.

It must be appreciated that even during the height of the pandemic when the world was under almost total lockdown, shipping continued to carry goods all around the world. This ensured food grain and oil reached its destination so that half the world did not go hungry, and the other half did not freeze.
