Pas grand monde, en France, ne parle vraiment de ce qui arrive à l’idole de la gauche européenne, le Premier ministre espagnol @sanchezcastejon. C’est pourtant l’une des affaires les plus vertigineuses qu’ait connues une démocratie européenne depuis longtemps. Aujourd’hui, un juge espagnol a renvoyé Begoña Gómez, l’épouse de Sánchez, devant un jury populaire : trafic d’influence, corruption dans les affaires, détournement et malversation de fonds publics. Passeport retiré. Interdiction de quitter l’Espagne. Obligation de se présenter au tribunal deux fois par mois. Mais l’épouse n’est pas seule. Le frère du Premier ministre, David Sánchez, est lui aussi visé par une enquête à Badajoz : le soupçon porte sur un poste public qui aurait été taillé sur mesure pour lui dans une administration provinciale dirigée par les socialistes. Le parti, lui, est rattrapé par le dossier Koldo : marchés publics truqués pendant la pandémie, contrats de masques, commissions, enveloppes de liquide. José Luis Ábalos, ancien ministre des Transports, ancien secrétaire à l’organisation du PSOE et proche de Sánchez, est en détention provisoire. Son ancien conseiller, Koldo García, aussi. Puis vient Víctor de Aldama, homme d’affaires devenu témoin central de plusieurs dossiers. Devant les juges, il affirme qu’on lui aurait demandé de négocier à Caracas des quotas de pétrole vénézuélien pour financer le PSOE et l’Internationale socialiste, que Sánchez préside depuis 2022. Il affirme aussi avoir remis 1,8 million d’euros au PSOE entre 2019 et 2020. Le 20 janvier 2020, Delcy Rodríguez, alors vice-présidente du régime Maduro et interdite d’entrée sur le sol européen par les sanctions de l’UE (aujourd’hui présidente), atterrit à Madrid-Barajas. C’est à partir de cet épisode, selon Aldama, que se serait dessinée l’opération : six millions de barils de brut, des centaines de millions d’euros, et une possible mécanique de financement politique autour du pétrole vénézuélien. Au centre de cette mécanique, pas Sánchez directement. Son mentor : José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. L’ancien Premier ministre socialiste est mis en cause sur deux fronts. Dans l’affaire Plus Ultra d’abord, qui examine le sauvetage public d’environ 53 millions d’euros accordé pendant la pandémie à une petite compagnie aérienne liée au Venezuela. Et, surtout, dans le volet pétrole : le juge y décrit un système d’influence dans lequel, pour accéder à certaines opérations de brut vénézuélien, il fallait passer par l’« Oficina del Presidente Zapatero ». Lui adresser une lettre d’intention. Obtenir le feu vert. Un péage. Un ancien chef de gouvernement européen transformé, selon les enquêteurs, en point de passage obligé pour le pétrole d’une dictature. Et puis vient le dernier cercle : la Chine. En octobre 2023, Zapatero se rend à Pékin, invité au forum des Nouvelles Routes de la Soie. Deux semaines plus tard, une entreprise chinoise décrite dans le dossier comme dépendant du Parti communiste chinois envoie une lettre d’intention pour acheter du pétrole vénézuélien, sur des contrats pouvant aller de cinq à vingt ans. Et cette lettre, où est-elle adressée ? À Ferraz 70. Le siège national du Parti socialiste espagnol. À l’attention de Zapatero. Une entreprise liée au système du Parti communiste chinois écrit au siège du Parti socialiste espagnol pour acheter du pétrole vénézuélien, via un ancien Premier ministre européen devenu intermédiaire incontournable. L’enquête s’étend désormais jusqu’à l’entourage familial de Zapatero : ses deux filles dirigent une agence, qui aurait facturé quelque 240 000 euros de « rapports » au sein de ce réseau de sociétés, leur père étant désigné dans les documents comme le « principal bénéficiaire ». Pendant ce temps, Pedro Sánchez donne des leçons de morale à l’Europe entière. Vieille règle politique : quand on ne veut pas qu’on regarde sa maison, on montre celle du voisin. Il était temps de regarder la sienne.

Si esto es posta, me parece una gran idea. Pero en mi humilde opinión le falta: no se trata de una persona manejando datos, se necesita un equipo entero de programadores, físicos, economistas y matemáticos que formulen modelos correctos pero, muy importante, que sepan generar las preguntas correctas. Y si, un mínimo de futbol tienen que saber. Es como Money Ball pero con el modelo mas potente de Claude. No te soluciona todos los problemas, pero indudablemente suma más de lo que resta.

A message from Football Park Scotland to the people of Boston and Providence! Thank you very much for being quite amazing hosts for not only our on-site team but the whole of the Tartan Army, you have been unbelievable to each and every one of us. We know what a challenge it must have been to keep up with approx 50,000 of us who came to your communities throughout the course of the last twelve days or so but you’ve have been the best hosts that we could have possibly asked for. We’ve made new friends, we’ve partied in the streets, drank in bars…a lot, we went to our favourite sport at Gillette Stadium and then went to yours at Fenway Park, we’ve taught you new dances which you have since taught back to others, we’ve swapped Irn Bru for Root Beer, we’ve laughed, sung and smiled a lot and we’ve even helped to declare a new international allegiance between Boston and Glasgow and not once did you question to why we put cones on your statues. At Euro 2024 in Germany we officially declared Cologne as our home from home, after our game against Switzerland, and it might never have been topped. Let’s just say now Boston and Providence is also now our other home from home, we just need to cross a big ocean to get there and hopefully one day we will get that direct bridge link between Boston and Scotland built…let’s just connect Cologne to it as well.
