#Koningsdag presenteert zich als volksfeest, maar kijk wie er écht feest viert. Het is een zee van wit, van Vondelpark tot vrijmarkt. Oranje schmink, vlaggetjes, de monarchie als bindmiddel. Maar binden voor wie? Voor migranten en Nederlanders van kleur is 27 april vooral een dag van buitensluiting. De openbare ruimte wordt gekaapt door een monocultuur die zich “gezellig” noemt. Op de vrijmarkten in de Jordaan of Utrecht-centrum zie je nauwelijks Turkse, Marokkaanse of Surinaamse gezinnen hun kleedje uitrollen. Niet omdat ze niet willen, maar omdat de codes duidelijk zijn: dit is een wit feest, met witte normen, witte muziek en een witte koning als middelpunt. De monarchie zelf is het symbool van die uitsluiting. Een erfelijk instituut, geworteld in koloniale rijkdom en een geschiedenis van slavernij, wordt gevierd als onschuldige folklore. Terwijl herstelbetalingen uitblijven en institutioneel racisme voortwoekert, hijsen we massaal de vlag voor een familie die nooit verantwoording hoefde af te leggen. Dat is geen traditie, dat is collectieve amnesie. Koningsdag is daarmee geen viering van Nederland, maar van een specifiek Nederland: wit, welvarend en nostalgisch naar een tijd waarin iedereen “gewoon Nederlands” was. Migranten mogen toekijken, consumeren, opruimen. Meedoen betekent assimileren in oranje. Een echt volksfeest kent geen erfelijke koning en geen etnische toegangscode. Zolang dat wel zo is, is Koningsdag niet ons feest. #Kingsday
