The existence of Jakku is honestly one of the franchise's original sins. If you're going to start your Star Wars trilogy with another hard-luck Force-sensitive dreamer on a desert plan, just had the guts to put them on Tatooine rather than making yet another ANH lazy reskin.

I really enjoyed the random discoveries of Destiny, but I will note the fact that it took YEARS for their to be in-game LFGs is a real indicator of the structural problems Destiny always suffered from.

Back in D1Y1 on the 360 I didn't know about any LFG sites so I would load into the tower and send a voice message to all recent players to LFG for VoG

@FarrisOfThemAII I invited everyone on my friend's list without really understanding how Destiny Raids worked and we were stuck on the pressure plate area for 30 minutes before we gave up.

My basic hypothesis: we are all increasingly, keenly aware that our system is a rigged game, and marginal improvements aren't changing that.

This rhetorical shorthand formed over the past few decades, and always equates the health of the economy with the health of the nation. This shorthand was always, at best, a correlation: if the economy is doing well, the country should be more prosperous. Emphasis on "should."

George Lucas needed a new Darth Vader for The Phantom Menace, so after 16 years he came up with Darth Maul, one of the greatest villain designs of all time. Then he decided he was done with him and killed him off, so he just came up with Count Dooku, who also became one of the greatest Star Wars villains of all time. Then he decided he was done with Count Dooku and created General Grievous, who became (you guessed it) one of the greatest Star Wars villains of all time. He didn't even care, he was just like, "Eh, I'm sure I can come up with a new one in like a year."
