Rayan has really made Brazil’s front three click and stay in sync. He’s a much better fit at RW than Raphinha in this setup. Raphinha injury might just be a blessing in disguise for Brazil.
The biggest difference is balance. Raphinha naturally wants to come inside early, attack the half-space and play like a second creator, which often leaves Brazil’s right side empty and makes the attack predictable. Rayan is more disciplined with his positioning. He holds the width, stretches the backline and creates more space centrally for Vini and the striker to operate.
Tactically, it also helps Vini a lot. When both wingers constantly drift inside, defenders can crowd the middle. With Rayan pinning the fullback wide, Vini gets more 1v1 situations on the left, which is where he’s at his most dangerous.
His movement off the ball has been impressive too. He makes runs beyond the striker, presses aggressively and links play quickly instead of slowing attacks down. That’s why Brazil’s transitions look much cleaner now and the front three look connected.
Sometimes the best attack isn’t about putting the three biggest names together, it’s about finding the player who complements everyone else. Right now, Rayan is just perfect for Brazil.
