They specifically addressed jurisdiction thereof meaning domicile & explicitly said foreigners were not subject to birthright citizenship. Jacob Howard on a floor debate of the 14th amendment: "This [amendment] will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons." John Roberts literally rewrote the 14th amendment in his opinion. He wrote law, just like he wrote law in his opinion with Obamacare. Roberts should be embarrassed into retirement from this absurb opinion. He's grasping at straws because sadly he allows politics to get in the way of his opinions. He's a horrible justice. The 14th amendment was written to give slaves and their children citizenship, not one democrat supported it. Thank God the republicans had a super majority to get it passed. The 14th amendment wasn't intended for noncitizens. Period.

The Constitution barely survived today. By a 5-4 vote, Trump’s Supreme Court declined to let him rewrite the Constitution and end birthright citizenship. We’re hanging on by a thread. The fight to defend our democracy is far from over.
