@QuinnyPig @awscloud My go-to gif for this type of thing is the "Geordi roll". No warp core breach in this case though, so maybe a better fit is the nearly 5-minute Enterprise-A reveal fly-by scene from Star Trek the Motion Picture: youtube.com/watch?v=GMQTzY…

Check out AWS DevOps Agent’s new Custom Skills and Learned Skills features! The agent automatically generates a couple of learned skills tailored to your systems. Over time the agent automatically learns about your systems, and about how to better use the various tools you’ve plugged in for observability or anything else. You can also write your own skills, or convert existing runbooks you have into skills. Skills help with operational investigations, and also with any On-Demand Task you run to automate your ops! Skills were just one of the many recent features we added - check it all out here: aws.amazon.com/blogs/mt/annou…

Sure, AWS DevOps Agent just went GA, but we added a bunch of features at the same time, including Custom Skills, Learned Skills, Code Indexing - just to name a few! If you have 30 seconds, you can see the new On-Demand SRE Tasks in action, which can help you with the endless variety of operational tasks that come up. More in the blog! aws.amazon.com/blogs/mt/annou…

Your description of me as "a trim man of 42 with a gray beard and jittery intensity" is funny and accurate, @pomeranian99 . Thanks for that and for the fun chat!

“Server ops is annoying,” said Yanacek, a trim man of 42 with a gray beard and jittery intensity. That is an accurate reflection of me that I had not considered before. The story talks about how #AWSDevOpsAgent is making ops less annoying! nytimes.com/2026/03/12/mag…

In developer tools, if a "rough edge" makes a tool hard to use, but a "sharp edge" makes a tool easy to accidentally misuse, then what kind of edge should a tool have?

Last week Kiro's new Bugfix Spec flow one-shotted a sort of annoying production bug fix for me, and it wrote thorough and correct tests as well! Check out this podcast if you want to hear more about spec-driven development and more about how agents are speeding up dev and ops!

The new AWS DevOps Agent is out in open preview! Speed up your incident resolution time, and prevent future ones. More in this #AWSreInvent talk, but you can set it up and use it in (much) less time than the talk takes! youtube.com/watch?v=JajBEY…

LOL who did this? :) And yes it is great that @kirodotdev now generates thorough verification for the code it writes, which it can do because spec-driven development gives it grounding about the goals of the application. If there were a shorter term for this…

A great conversation with @TechstrongGroup’s @devopsdotcom 💬 Here’s a clip of the actual chat behind the article (watch til the end) Kiro’s @dyanacek breaks down why property-based testing is essential when AI is writing parts of your codebase and how you can check if your code will behave the way you expect. Thanks to @mvizard for letting us share this clip and for spreading the word about property-based testing. @kirodotdev Kiro just went GA, and with that, new features! My favorite is Property-based testing. PBT takes your Kiro spec to figure out behaviors want the system to have, and uses those to generate thorough tests. devops.com/aws-extends-ki…

Before software engineers even begin writing code, they have to set the stage of the entire development process. This process requires engineers to make complex tradeoffs between requirements, system design, and implementations details. Current IDEs that rely on AI features, like chat and inline coding, can help engineers get the job done quickly on small development tasks. Still, engineers spend much more time on larger projects—even after the initial code is generated—by conducting rigorous testing and creating documentation. This is where today’s AI IDEs can do more to accelerate the development lifecycle—and this is why we built Kiro. Kiro is an AI IDE that helps you go from prototype to production with spec-driven development and agent hooks. From simple to complex tasks, Kiro works alongside you to turn prompts into detailed specs, then into working code, docs, and test so what you build is exactly what you want and ready to share with your team. After a developer builds the code with Kiro, Kiro’s agent hooks help engineers solve challenging problems and automate tasks like generating documentation and unit tests. Kiro brings structure and mature engineering practices to AI coding, so you can go from concept to application while being in the driver’s seat every step of the way. Kiro is free during preview, and supports Mac, Windows, and Linux, and most popular programming languages. We're excited for you to try it out and let us know what you think ➡️ kiro.dev/blog/introduci…

Introducing Kiro, an all-new agentic IDE that has a chance to transform how developers build software. Let me highlight three key innovations that make Kiro special: 1 - Kiro introduces spec-driven development, helping developers express their intent clearly through natural language specifications and architecture diagrams for complex features. This comprehensive context helps Kiro’s AI agents deliver better results with fewer iterations. 2 - Kiro features intelligent agent hooks that automatically handle critical but time-consuming tasks like generating documentation, writing tests, and optimizing performance. These hooks work in the background, triggered by events like saving files or making commits. It’s like having an experienced developer constantly reviewing your work and handling the maintenance tasks that often get delayed. 3 - Kiro provides a purpose-built interface that adapts to how developers work. Whether you prefer chat interactions or working with specifications, Kiro supports your workflow while keeping you in control of the development process. Kiro is really good at "vibe coding" but goes well beyond that. While other AI coding assistants might help you prototype quickly, Kiro helps you take those prototypes all the way to production by following a mature, structured development process out of the box. This means developers can spend less time on boilerplate code and more time where it matters most – innovating and building solutions that customers will love. Starting today, Kiro is available for free during preview and supports most popular programming languages. Here’s how to get started with @kirodotdev today: kiro.dev/blog/introduci… Excited to see how developers use Kiro, and to work with the developer community to continue to shape Kiro moving forward.

Anew way to vibecode from idea, to spec, code, docs, tests, and everything else for going beyond a prototype. I've been using it for the last couple months and it has made it so that I can check things off the parts of my backlog that I never would have been able to get to!

This is Kiro - the AI IDE that actually works on your messy, real-world projects. Other AI tools lose context when projects get complex. Kiro gives you spec-driven development that scales beyond prototypes. Free preview available now spr.ly/6016429H8 #KiroDotDev
