1/ Malaysia's sovereign Layer-1 #blockchain opportunity is worth discussing. Beyond a standalone blockchain, it delivers a trusted coordination layer combining identity, tokenised assets, settlement, and compliance into one capital markets system. 🧵

Southeast Asia and Hong Kong drove Web3 momentum this week. 1️⃣ Vietnam Prepares Crypto Market Debut Vietnam is preparing a state-regulated crypto exchange pilot targeted for Q2 2026. The framework is expected to include strict licensing requirements, higher capital thresholds and tighter oversight as the country tests a more formal market structure. 🔗 asia.nikkei.com/business/techn… 2️⃣ Hong Kong SFC Pilots for 24/7 Tokenized Fund Trading on Crypto Exchanges Hong Kong’s SFC will permit secondary trading of tokenized authorized funds on licensed virtual asset trading platforms. The change could enable near 24/7 dealing. Tokenized AUM reportedly reached HK$10.7B as of March 2026 - 7x YoY. 🔗 ledgerinsights.com/hong-kongs-sfc… 3️⃣ Malaysia Advances Tokenisation Pilots for Cross-Border Wholesale Payments Malaysia is piloting tokenized deposits and MYR-denominated stablecoins with major banks, aiming to reduce friction in cross-border settlement. Onchain real-world assets total $28.245B in market cap, with $26.626B deployed across 164 issuers. This chart signals institutional confidence. Finance is moving toward regulated, open infrastructure that integrate proven blockchain rails to build trust, widen access and deliver real-world results. The future will be tokenised. This chart is the evidence.

Integrating Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI) with Digital Wallet Development. In recent years, I have increasingly observed how blockchain technology has evolved from being merely the technology behind digital assets into a foundational infrastructure for the future digital economy. Malaysia is also moving in this direction through the development of Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), a national initiative aimed at building a National Digital Trust Infrastructure that connects government, industry, and technology innovators within a secure, transparent, and interoperable blockchain ecosystem. This initiative is spearheaded by MIMOS Berhad under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, aligned with the Malaysia Blockchain Roadmap 2021–2025. From my perspective as someone involved in the ecosystem, the development of infrastructure such as MBI opens a new dimension for blockchain technology in Malaysia, particularly in the context of real-world applications. Currently, I am involved in the development of a digital wallet infrastructure project designed to build a secure, interoperable, and user-friendly digital asset management system. When examining the development of Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure, I see significant potential for integration between wallet-based applications and national blockchain infrastructure. This is because MBI provides several critical components that can support wallet development, including: • interoperability across multiple blockchain networks. • secure transaction verification frameworks. • digital identity and e-KYC integration. • smart contract development capabilities. • Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) infrastructure. For developers, such infrastructure can function as a foundational layer that enables wallet applications to be built in a more secure, scalable, and compliance-ready manner. In a broader context, a digital wallet is not merely a payment application. It can function as a gateway to the wider digital economy, enabling services such as: • digital asset management. • digital identity integration. • asset tokenization. • digital financial transactions. • digital document verification. With the presence of infrastructure like Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure, a wallet can potentially serve as the primary interface between users and the national blockchain ecosystem. This creates opportunities to develop applications that not only facilitate digital transactions but also integrate with government systems, industry platforms, and emerging digital services. As a builder and community contributor, I see this journey as an exciting opportunity where technology, community, and innovation can grow together. DeFi is bleeding capital fast. Liquidity is thinning, positions are closing, and returns no longer justify the risk - it’s what happens when open systems scale without enough control. DeFi was fueled by incentive yields, permissionless entry, and hyper-mobile money. In a drawdown, those same features turn into ways things break: funds flow in frictionlessly and stampede out even faster. The missing piece was never accessibility. It’s governance, security, and durability under pressure. That’s where 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 earn their keep: ➡️ known counterparties ➡️ managed liquidity pools ➡️ enforceable risk rules The security base layer matters just as much. At scale, resilience is critical, and post-quantum readiness is rapidly becoming a baseline requirement for trust. DeFi’s next chapter won’t be written by “open” alone. It’ll be shaped by risk-aware systems that protect assets and hold capital when markets crack.

- programmable and near-instant settlement - everything can be tokenized, expanding opportunities for investors to invest on a global scale - stablecoin can go full force, dominating finance (onboarding Web2 users to Web3) - transparency for all financial movements - expand funding markets, fluorishing DeFi but of course, it all comes from regulatory clarity first.

Stablecoins power liquidity. Tokenisation brings RWAs on-chain. A quantum-resistance financial infrastructure ties it all together. The future of finance will be decided by how seamless these layers connect.

DeFi still has to prove it can stay secure, stablecoins are steadily finding their footing in everyday use, and AI upgrades keep racing ahead. 1️⃣ DeFi security is still the bottleneck Recent incidents across Drift Protocol, Kelp DAO and frontend infrastructure like Vercel highlight that security is the primary bottleneck to scaling DeFi. 🔗 thestreet.com/crypto/markets… 2️⃣ Singapore moves toward programmable digital money Singapore Gulf Bank (SGB) launched a stablecoin mint and redeem service, enabling institutional clients to issue and convert stablecoins within a regulated banking environment. 🔗 thedefiant.io/news/tradfi-an… 3️⃣ AI model capability continues to scale Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.7, advancing reasoning, coding and enterprise-grade AI performance for real-world deployment 🔗 anthropic.com/news/claude-op…

3/ While these incidents stem from operational and access-control weaknesses rather than cryptographic breaks, they serve as a timely reminder of the broader need for robust credential hygiene and supply-chain diligence - alongside ongoing preparations for post-quantum readiness. Stay safe out there!

2/ Compounding these developments, @vercel disclosed a security incident involving unauthorized access to certain internal systems. The vector was a compromised third-party AI tool utilizing a Google Workspace OAuth application, with potential downstream implications for organizations relying on Vercel for frontend deployment and environment variable management.

1/ April 2026 has seen an elevated level of security incidents across the digital asset ecosystem. Notable on-chain events include: • @DriftProtocol: approximately $285 million in losses • @KelpDAO: approximately $293 million via a cross-chain bridge exploit - the largest DeFi incident of the year to date. At least 12 protocols and related entities have been impacted this month.
