Take that Bill Gates and WEF: Ÿnsect—Europe's largest insect farm—has officially gone bankrupt after raising over $600 million in public and private funding, including nearly €200 million in taxpayer money from French and EU sources. The French mealworm producer, once hailed as a sustainable protein pioneer for animal feed and pet food, entered judicial liquidation in December 2025 amid soaring costs, dismal revenue (just €656K in 2023 vs. €80M losses), and market rejection—proving industrial-scale bug farming isn't ready for prime time despite massive subsidies. Image of their sprawling facility: Blue trays stacked high with feed, now silent symbols of a $600M flop. Is this the death knell for forced "alternative" proteins... or just a hiccup? Taxpayers footing the bill—fair or fiasco?

Dear Rishi, facts matter. The genetically modified purple tomato does not prevent cancer. UK cancer organisations have been very clear in correcting this hype and UK food labelling law specifically prohibits such dangerous claims. archive.ph/rAPnZ

A LOT of seed GMO work seems to be about being able to patent, and therefore totally control the use of, crop seeds imho Preventing farmer seed saving Profit comes first Public benefit is a poor second

A GMO cant be 'natural' and patented (thus by definition ;unnatural;) at the same time. By avoiding uncomfortable and complex discussions on patents, the UK is ensuring the whole GMO/PBO myth will blow up in its face.

Duh. They are called ‘forever chemicals for a reason. Even if you can remove them with new tech it’s likely to be energy intensive and create secondary hazardous waste streams that require further, expensive treatment. I expect the government is calling this a “growth” market.
