All things Cumbrian! Recently featured in @CumbriaLifeMag, showcasing the best in regional collaboration. A #passivehouse home in #Cumbria, built by @edeninsulation, using factory-made panels, with @proclima tapes and Gutex #woodfibre insulation, all sourced from our warehouse.

@PassivhausArch Great to hear the air test went so well Well done to the Alpha Contracts on their follow on work after we passed the project on……enjoy the pizza.
English

It’s always a win when an air test is uneventful! This team really got into finding any remaining pin prick leaks until 0.19ACH. They’d apparently been promised 🍕 tomorrow if it was passing well 1st go so site manager is buying! Alpha Contracts and @edeninsulation OSM kit.

English

We are working on an interesting @PassivhausArch project using our insulated ground floor panels on a piled supported grid, to do away with a concrete based foundation. We have been lucky with the weather on this one and will be done before the big chill arrives 😀

Great work on site by Alpha Projects and Eden Insulation starting to put up the kit. Reuse of all old house on site except asbestos too plus tree protection. So good to see the house ‘popping up’. #eco #architecture #passivhaus

@Rob_Fiehn @TateAndCo_ @dezeen Here’s some high tech precision panels for Passivhaus buildings using natural materials, just let us know when you need some, made in Cumbria as well.

English

We need a new High-Tech movement, one rooted in natural materials but still celebrating the architecture/engineering mix.

@ElrondBurrell @SandersonAidan @PassiveHouseBB @FredWitting @AR_Clarke @JurajMikurcik Never thought my tweet would set off such extensive discussions, it has been great to hear everybody’s thoughts on best approach to this.

@MarkSiddallRIBA @nickdevlin_Fab @paulhurt @steel0 Sorry Mark can’t really help on this, as we are not involved with how the ventilation is managed under the ground floor.
English

@nickdevlin_Fab @paulhurt @edeninsulation @steel0 Whilst not a design matter directly of concern for @edeninsulation (outside your liability), I wonder how moisture risks have been considered.
How well ventilated with the underfloor void be once complete?

We were in Herefordshire last week erecting a #passivhaus timber frame where we also supplied the ground floor sitting on a pre installed pile a steel support. Having not supplied insulated ground floors before, this is the first of 4 jobs current job’s requiring them, new trend?

English

@edeninsulation @steel0 Interesting? Were there any concerns about cold bridging between the piles/steel beams and the floor panels? Where does it thermally break?
English

@WaxwingEnergy Love to say but the client is quite private and would not be happy if I made it general knowledge, sorry I can’t help on this one.
English

@edeninsulation Oh wow. My back yard. Where is it? Who is air testing?
English

@steel0 Below our panels is concrete piles with steel running front to back and timber bearers attached to the steel. Our panels are made up with a diffusion open board on the underside 400mm I-beams and topped of with a VCL and Caberfloor. The panels are insulated with cellulose.
English

@AndrewMcQuarrie The reduced amount of concrete makes it more eco friendly but in this form it does work more expensive an Isoquick slab for example. Worked well on site though as we had a nice level platform to build the walls on.
English

@edeninsulation Great that you’re doing the ground floor too. Presumably way more eco friendly to insulated slabs?

If only there was a way to build buildings that:
1. Reduce carbon emissions #ClimateEmergency
2. Use little operational energy and are cheap to run #CostOfLivingCrisis
3. Are comfortable in winter & during heatwaves #HeatWaves

Imagine a house that would stay cool in today’s weather without air conditioning...
Oh wait, you don’t because we’ve already done it.
It's a comfortable 25 degrees inside Brambles Cottage right now! Goes to show the importance of insulation.

We experienced overheating in our south east facing factory office pods on sunny summer days, so last Friday I put together rudimentary shades using dust sheets and roofing battens and off cut timber. It worked brilliantly giving a comfortable working environment #lowcostshading
