But is the U.S. still a democracy? And what will it look like in 2 years? And the strategic winner of this war is obvious: Putin. Iran built the Shahed system that Russia used at scale against Ukraine, and this broader regional escalation is now pushing oil prices sharply higher, which directly benefits a major oil exporter like Russia. Freedom? Trump already handed Moscow exactly what it wanted. In March 2025 he froze U.S. military aid to Ukraine and cut intelligence sharing with Kyiv, both of which increased pressure on Ukraine while easing pressure on Russia. his administration also suspended parts of the U.S. effort to counter Russian sabotage, disinformation, and cyberattacks. Even more absurd. With energy markets rattled by the Iran war, Trump’s administration has already moved to ease restrictions on Russian oil to cool prices. So your “liberty” narrative collapses on contact with reality. You do not weaken Putin by inflating oil, distracting the West from Ukraine, and then softening pressure on Russian energy. You reward him. And dragging college and healthcare subsidies into this is just intellectual camouflage. Broken domestic pricing systems do not justify reckless war, and war does not become wise because you stapled “freedom” onto it. If your policy produces more chaos, more profit for Moscow, more pain for allies, and more costs for ordinary people, then wtf is it? And remember: Iraq got chaos. Libya got state collapse.
