@DeactivatingFN @hrrowhark The major reason I believe in them is, in a book all about someone having destroyed her previous self out of grief, Harrow is offered the most poetic moment possible to let Gideon go when she has that conversation, and she outright refuses to take it. You can't walk that back.

Why can't I find any angst fics about her and Aranea? Do people just forget that was a thing? Generally I don't think people understand her at all, but to get into that would take forever. I don't think it's possible for her to have a fulfilling life with Vriska, how about that.

Terezi's a Harrow not just because you can see the beginnings of the latter in how TM wrote fanfic about the former, but because they're both so impossibly complex and layered that I have to be obsessed forever. But the problem is people notice this less about Terezi than Harrow.

As much as I've gotten some attention posting like this on tumblr recently, I do still wish there was anyone worth following on twitter about Homestuck because I want more discussion. How do I Start Shit without being deliberately inflammatory on people's stupid posts.

It's weird to think of Terezi as being "underrated" because like, that seems wrong to say, you see people talk about her all the time. But there are just huge aspects of her issues that seem entirely unexplored in fandom and it's destabilizing to notice how overlooked they are.

Making one of those posts complaining about how there's disproportionately little F/F Homestuck fic when you look at how much the female characters interact with and are relevant to each other's lives in canon but it's about how there are 26 Jake/Aranea fics but no Terezi/Aranea.

@clockstiqqun I do remember this happening, but wasn't really paying enough attention to be sure. On a base level it sounds a lot less offensive, and yet in the ensuing years I have seen about ten times more discourse on how bad it is than I ever did about "trap."

@eggs_gremlin i mean the thing is it wasn't even originally a porn term, it's what anime people came up with to describe Astolfo et al when it was decided that trap was offensive. the spread into porn came from rule34 of anime boys lol

seems interesting to me that legitimacy here is seen as proximity to womanhood. butch and femme are both lesbian terms. supposing this hypothetical trans man does not want to use them, on account of being a gay man? why is he not allowed to choose his own terminology?

@DeactivatingFN Maybe I'm not really phrasing it how I think of it. I like that it makes me think about parallels at least, not like I think Harrow needed or deserved it. I'd probably have something more intelligent to say if I wasn't so tired and it hadn't been over a year since I last reread.

@eggs_gremlin I don’t see it as like…cathartic? Karmic I guess my reading of the emotional current in HTN is different? I don’t think harrows treatment in HTN is meant to be there for how she’s behaved in the past. It’s a response to her decisions for the work which is kind of the opposite
