I've been pretty quiet with my thoughts on this film. I know the discourse from most of my followers is that you guys are expecting another flop, and yeah, that's very much probable. But, something happened to me recently that gave me a different perspective I'd like to share with you guys. I recently took my twin 6 year old boys to go see the Mario Galaxy movie. The trailer for Supergirl dropped during the pre-show, and there's a scene in the trailer where it looks like Krypto gets shot. As soon as that happened, my son's eyes were glued to the screen. I honestly didn't realize it before, but they really sold the damn dog to these kids. When the trailer finished, my son looked up at me and said "Daddy can we see that when it comes out?" Once that happened, my perspective on how this movie would perform kind of changed. I started to think that it was actually a really smart move to put that trailer in front of the Mario Galaxy movie, because if my son had that type of reaction, I'm positive many other kids did too. My boys had no interest in Gunn's Superman based on the films marketing, but I can honestly say Supergirl is a different situation. I know it might sound crazy, but I'm starting to think it could potentially do better than Superman did. We will see what happens this summer, but based on the reactions I saw from my kids, I can't rule this one out yet.
