Mutual Exclusivity: two things correct at the same time. Does civilization need the top percentage from any location working on crucial projects advancing humanity? Yes. Also, does everyone in the management hiring position realize the devastation over the last few years that has been done to critical roles in the entry-level, mid-tier, and top tier roles, and to make a reinvestment effort to get these tech workers back to their best roles, getting the best production from them? Not yet. Waiting for events to happen to bring this to light will be the most impactful mistake. It has been said before, there is a thin layer of these qualified people that keep things together. That layer is a thread away from being broken, the enemy knows this, waiting. Do not blame @elonmusk or @VivekGRamaswamy they just do not have this visibility at this level. Not yet.

3/ What is the solution? Hiring more people more effectively to account the rights skills are in place for IT and security risk management? This is a very large budgetary increase to get back adequate cyber and IT accountability. Or is it hiring MSP expert providers short term?

2/ Have most of the jobs posted over the last three years been “ghost jobs” in order to show an appearance of company growth and increased demand? If so, who is left doing the work when there is attrition reducing staff to complete the same functions?

Big opportunity to address the issue of the human workforce supply chain which has been decimated over the last years. There are millions of qualified people with degrees, training, & experience not being used to their full potential, working multiple jobs not in their expertise.

Cybersecurity awareness tip: always save your logs to retain them for the appropriate amount of time as your strategy. You will need them.

Huge cyber security and IT weakness: 40% of job seekers say they haven’t had a single job interview this year fortune.com/2024/12/03/gre… The illusion companies are attempting to hire for these positions is compounding major cybersecurity and IT problems.

New year, new opportunities. Cybersecurity is much different than it was even a couple years ago, no longer one department to contain incidents, but instead training and responsibility for all employees, partners, customers, and executives to manage cyber and IT risk.

That’s much better. Next time ask people who know, they would be glad to give you the details. Here’s a bigger clue, there are multiple problems compounded by the initial problem. And it is not in just one field, it is in nearly all of them. Time to change the human workforce.

@elonmusk we need to talk, you are not seeing a lot of data from the information presented to you on this subject. Some of what you are saying is correct, however you are missing a crucial point that there are hundreds of thousands of skilled existing US IT workers either unemployed or severely underemployed since 2020. This is resulting in a major, critical human vulnerability spread across critical infrastructure and dependencies - everywhere. Yes we can implement what you are saying but we should not ignore this primary fact, which has created a massive weakness in our systems. I have this data if you are interested.

Maybe this is a helpful clarification: I am referring to bringing in via legal immigration the top ~0.1% of engineering talent as being essential for America to keep winning. This is like bringing in the Jokic’s or Wemby’s of the world to help your whole team (which is mostly Americans!) win the NBA. Thinking of America as a pro sports team that has been winning for a long time and wants to keep winning is the right mental construct.
Kaizen D. Asiedu@thatsKAIZEN

@elonmusk People seem to be missing the fact that you’re asserting that it’s *elite* engineering talent that we have a shortage of in America. Like .01-.001% And if we don’t fill this shortage with immigrants in the short term, we will lose.
